  • Do not perform any chemical peel or dermabrasion for 2 weeks before treatment, and avoid peels throughout your course.
  • On the day, always arrive with clean skin without creams or deodorants, and no makeup.
  • Always use factor 50 sun cream on the treated area for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
  • Do not use water above 34–36°C for 48 hours before and after the session.
  • No physical exercise 48 hours before and after the session.
  • Do not use swimming pools or saunas for 48 hours before and after the session.
  • Come with the area clean and shaven 24–48 hours before treatment.
  • Do not wax or pluck the area during the course of your treatment.
SPMU Brows — Pre & Post Treatment+

Pre-treatment

  • Exfoliate the skin well prior to your appointment for best results.
  • Good hydration and well-moisturised skin promote good healing.
  • Avoid sun beds for 72 hours prior so you don't arrive with burnt skin.
  • If you normally wax and tint your brows, do this as normal within a week of your appointment.

Post-treatment

Don't panic if the treated area shows redness/swelling and the colour looks dark and intense — this is normal. Additional work cannot be undertaken until fully healed; a 4–6 week healing time is required. Avoid water jets on the area when showering, and avoid the gym, sauna or pool throughout healing.

Once healed, use a waterproof total sun block in the sun for around 4 weeks to stop colour fade. Strong chemicals or glycolic acid/peels may lighten the pigment. Use facial wipes or a gentle cleanser around the area for 2–3 weeks. Do not pick, scratch or itch — the less you play, the better they stay, and keep brows as dry as possible. You will go through: (1) heal (2) peel (3) fade, then the colour returns around 20% lighter for Nano.

A Dragon's Blood Butter has already been applied, so no additional aftercare is needed. For itching, non-drowsy antihistamines can help; for swelling, ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory) may help if you are not allergic — please eat something first.

Important information

  • Giving blood — the Red Cross suggest you do not give blood for 6 months.
  • MRI scans — the procedure shows as an artefact; some clients feel a tingling sensation. Notify your radiologist.
  • Injectables — dermal fillers can alter the shape of the eyebrows or lips.
  • Laser — advise your LHR technician you have had micropigmentation so they can adapt treatment.
  • Top-ups — recommended within 12 months. Anything after 18 months returns to full price.
SPMU Eyeliner — Pre & Post Treatment+

It's a good idea to have your lashes tinted a couple of days before, as mascara is forbidden throughout healing. Good hydration and well-moisturised skin promote healing. Avoid sun beds for 72 hours prior. Remove all false lashes before your appointment.

Don't panic if the area shows redness/swelling and the colour looks dark and intense — this is normal and will shrink and heal. Sunglasses help protect your eyeliner from UV rays. Use facial wipes or a gentle cleanser for 2–3 weeks. Do not pick, scratch or itch, and keep the area as dry as possible. You'll go through (1) heal (2) peel (3) fade, then colour returns up to 40% lighter.

After 24–48 hours swelling should settle; around day 3 a little crust may form. Avoid mascara for a few weeks (risk of infection and interference with healing). Let your eyeliner dry-heal and try not to get your eyes wet or apply products to the area.

SPMU Lips — Pre & Post Treatment+

Good hydration and well-moisturised, hydrated lips promote good healing. If you suffer with cold sores, purchase Zovirax or Aciclovir tablets and start taking them 5 days before and 5 days after your appointment to diffuse any potential breakouts.

Use facial wipes or a gentle cleanser for 2–3 weeks. Do not pick, scratch or itch. You'll go through (1) heal (2) peel (3) fade, then colour returns up to 50% lighter, varying with your natural lip pigment. A Dragon's Blood Butter is applied; a vitamin A ointment is also provided for additional nourishment if needed. Keep hydrated and be careful brushing your teeth.

You may notice whiteness/blanching which subsides within 12 hours. If lymphatic fluid or blood weeps, gently dab with saline/cool boiled water and gauze. Apply a fine layer of aftercare ointment with clean hands as required. Avoid strong food colourants (e.g. curries) for the first few days, keep anything touching your mouth clean, and use a straw for the first couple of days. Avoid lip fillers until you have completely finished your SPMU process.

Profhilo — Post Treatment+

Immediately after injections the area may be red, tender or swollen. Redness and tenderness should improve after 48 hours; swelling is often worse on days 2–3, improving by day 5 and resolving within 2 weeks. Cold compresses, anti-inflammatories (after 24 hours, if safe), antihistamines and sleeping propped up on pillows can help. Bruising may take up to 2 weeks to settle; Arnica cream may help.

  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours after treatment to reduce infection risk.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours.
  • Avoid aspirin/ibuprofen and blood-thinning supplements for 24 hours (check with your GP first if prescribed).
  • Avoid excess sun, extremes of hot/cold, saunas, swimming and strenuous exercise until redness and swelling settle.

A rare complication is vascular occlusion (throbbing/aching pain, paleness, cold tissue, purple mottling). If you notice any of these, or signs of infection (hot, red, shiny skin, pus, fever) or severe allergy (rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty), contact your practitioner or seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Botox / Anti-Wrinkle Injections — Post Treatment+

After treatment the skin may be red, swollen and sometimes bruised at the injection sites. These resolve naturally, usually within a few days, though extensive bruising can take up to 2 weeks. You may experience a headache for 1–2 days, usually controlled with paracetamol.

  • Avoid makeup on the treated area for 24 hours to reduce infection risk.
  • Avoid extremes of temperature for 24 hours — tepid showers rather than hot.
  • Avoid exercise, strenuous activity, swimming, saunas and steam rooms for at least 24 hours.
  • No excessive alcohol on the day of treatment.
  • Remain upright and do not lie flat or face down for at least 4 hours to reduce product migration.
  • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid further cosmetic procedures (including permanent makeup) to the area for 2 weeks.
  • Allow 2 weeks before assessing results; contact your practitioner for review if uneven.

Illuma Luna — Post Treatment+

After an Illuma Luna skin booster treatment, proper aftercare is crucial for the best results and to minimise side effects. As Illuma Luna is thicker than Lumi Eyes, expect a little more downtime.
